Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed:
Monday through Sunday
6:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Hours and days may vary depending on the specific department and availability of opportunities.

Key Service(s) Provided

  • Greeting patients and visitors at the Information Desk
  • Patient assistants (reading, watering flowers, running errands, etc.)
  • Filing and general clerical duties
  • Receptionist duties including answering the phone and directing patients and visitors
  • Porter Services including flower and mail delivery

Volunteering

The volunteers at Redington-Fairview General Hospital give employees, patients and visitors the most special gift of all — their TALENT and TIME. The services they provide compliment the care given by staff. We take pride in our volunteers and we consider them part of the staff.

Volunteers ranging from age 16-70+ donate their time and talents at Redington-Fairview General Hospital day after day and with energy, enthusiasm, and commitment that is inspirational. They run errands, stock supplies, serve meals, assist families and visitors, type, file, and answer the phone . . . and perform a myriad of other tasks that assist the hospital staff to provide care and services. In addition to their "regular" responsibilities, volunteers hold fund raisers and raffles to support hospital projects, and they participate in community special events.

We invite you to join our family of volunteers. Whether you have 2 hours a month or 2 hours a week, we will do our best to match your interest and skills to the opportunities available. The Mission of Redington-Fairview General Hospital (RFGH) is to develop, provide, and facilitate quality comprehensive, cost-effective health services for the people we serve.

Redington-Fairview General Hospital is an independent community hospital located in Skowhegan, Maine. RFGH has provided quality, comprehensive health services to the residents of Somerset County since 1952. A member of the Maine Hospital Association, RFGH offers inpatient and outpatient services in many specialities, has a network of community-based primary care and pediatric physicians, and provides 24-hour emergency medical services.
